Blue spot surf school is based in the beautiful beach in Santa Teresa, Nicoya Peninsula, one of the most beautiful beaches along the pacific coast. Santa Teresa itself was a fairly well kept secret till around 5 years ago. Since, it has seen a great migration making it one of the melting pots of nationalities and backgrounds.
George first visited Costa Rica in 1992 and fell in love with the place so that when the opportunity presented itself to set up a business, he didn't hesitate.
George is a level 3 BSA surf coach and RLSS lifeguard and has been coaching for 6 years from when he worked at the BSA surf school in Newquay, Cornwall.
A photographer by trade, he managed to combine his love of surfing with his love of photography working as a freelance photographer for over 10 years supplying all the British Surf magazines with images and stories.
However in the last 6 years, photography has taken a back seat to his coaching. George is also a Level 2 ISA judge and works on the Pro circuit in Costa Rica and elsewhere. The judging takes him into the world of competition where he has coached some of the up and coming competitors and juniors in Costa Rica. George also acts as head judge at all the Santa Teresa and Mal Pais contests.
The surf School caters to all levels from beginners to advanced with one off sessions or 3 and 5 day courses to suit. Surf camps are also available and we have set some packages for you to get an idea but we can also tailor the holiday and lessons to suit if you prefer.
All the equipment is supplied during the lesson and we can also arrange board hire.
No need for wetsuits as water temps are over 28C most of the year.
The dry season is from December to April with smaller more consistent conditions ranging from 2 to 6 foot days with waves everyday.
